Our Story

The Housing Foundation is about people and dreams. People who are building on the past and planning for the future; people who have seen a need in our community for affordable housing and who have watched their dreams materialize into reality. Our vision is for a community where all people have access to affordable housing – not just the few who tell their stories here. We are committed to working with our partners in the community and the various levels of government to fulfill the mandate set by our Board of Directors in 1952. Housing people with dignity is our dream and our goal.

The widely-held standard for affordable housing is that it should cost no more than 30% of a household's income; by this standard, one in seven seniors is in need of affordable housing that is not available to them. That's over 39,000 people living in BC today. MORE...
